Wayne Rooney's New Hair Makes Its Debut at Rihanna Gig after Top-up Treatment

Wayne Rooney's new hair made its public debut last night after the England ace had a top-up transplant.

The Manchester United striker tweeted a photo as he and wife Coleen enjoyed Rihanna's gig at the Manchester Arena.

Wayne and Coleen Rooney, both 27, are known to be huge RiRi fans and were celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary.

The United star had the second 'standard' procedure at London’s Harley Street Hair Clinic at the weekend.

His £15,000 procedure two years ago saw doctors take hair from the back of his bonce to replant at the front.

He said at the time: “I was going bald at 25. Why not? I’m delighted.”

The results were so impressive he even arrived at the Euro 2012 championships with a quiff.

Asim Shahmalak, hair transplant surgeon on Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies, said a second op is necessary to cover up any new bald spots.

He said: "Wayne has kept hold of the hair from his first transplant at the front of his head.

"But he has continued to lose his hair further back on his head and on his crown. It has given him two noticeable bald patches.

"The only way to remedy this was with a second hair transplant."

Dr Shahmalak commended Rooney on taking the plunge and admitting his transplant.

He said: "Wayne was really brave in being so open about his transplant.

"He happily tweeted pictures and told the world that he'd had it done," he said.

"Before Wayne, men could be a bit embarrassed about admitting they'd had a transplant - but he showed there was nothing to be ashamed of.

"Wayne was very young when he had his first transplant. There is always a risk if you have a transplant before a firm pattern of baldness has been established.

"Any transplanted hair will stay for life, but you will continue to lose your natural hair - creating some inconsistencies on the scalp.

"It should be easily remedied now that he has had a second transplant.

"It is great news that Wayne is not making any secret of the fact that he has had the second operation. It will inspire thousands of men to seek treatment for their baldness."
